PLACA DE SA BASSA, is a charming Majorcan square, focal to many town events. Close to the main church and here it´s well worth to admire the architecture. You can buy almost everything in Manacor. Supermarket chains like Lidl and Aldi are here, as is Mueller. The main Spanish supermarkets are Mercedona, Hiper, and Eroski. For hardware products there is the Brico at Hiper who are well stocked and for more specialized equipment, Mascaro. There are many paint suppliers, furniture suppliers, fireplaces. Manacor is renowned to be the furniture town of the island. Train Station: There is an hourly service to Palma stopping at many villages on the way and takes about 45 mins to get into Plaza Espana. The other villages within a short distance are Petra, with several good restaurants, Porreres, Felanitx with a Sunday market and Porto Colom for beaches and restaurants. Manacor does not close down during Winter, it's consistent and not overrun with a single group of foreigners and predominantly Majorquin residence. Monday is Market day in Manacor and the streets around the centre form the plaza up around the church are filled with vendors selling the usual array of product. It starts early and is finished by around 1.30pm. Naturally the bars and restaurants are all busier than usual at this time of the day. Within 30 mins drive of the airport on the Manacor/Palma highway.
